Ginger Turmeric Butt-Kicker
My entire family is sick with a flu right now. What keeps me going despite all the germs and sleepless nights?
We’ve all heard about the health benefits of ginger and turmeric. Together they form a very powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial alley. But it’s a nuisance to consume them … until you try this drink.
I find it gives me a very nice immune boost. It is also great for when I have food cravings and don’t know what I want. I just drink this with 1 tsp Maca powder and I am satisfied. Magic!
I also make a “cough” syrup with this for my daughter, but I make sure to add lots of honey.
Ingredients:
-1-2 large ginger roots, peeled and chopped
-3 whooping table spoons of Truly Turmeric (see picture), if you want to save lots of time; otherwise: 10 turmeric fingers, peeled and chopped + 1tbs coconut oil (fat) + a dash of black pepper (for better absorption)
-2 tbs coconut flakes (for milky flavour)
-2 to 3 cups of water (depending on how potent you want this to be)
–Optional Sweetener of choice:
–handful of dried goji berries (yum!)
-honey
-1 to 2 dates
I prefer my drink without any sweetener but goji berries go so nicely in this recipe.
Method:
1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
2. Strain through the fine mesh strainer. Discard the pulp and place the liquid into a jar.
I get about five servings (or 5 cups) from this.
To drink: pour 1/5th or 1/4th of the golden liquid into a 1 cup of water, milk or tea, depending on how potent you want this to be. Warm it up, or drink straight like that and enjoy!
