Rewards System

After being forced into homeschooling, thanks to the COVID lockdown, we loved teaching/learning so much, so that when the school was officially over for the summer we decided to keep going with our favourite subjects. The only roadblock was finding extra inspiration and motivation for my 6 year old. That’s when I thought of creating her own Sticker Passport. Several pages stapled together into a notebook and favourite subjects drawn on each line. My daughter gets a sticker each time she completes an assignment for each subject. Earn 10 stickers and you get $1 in your piggy bank. Simple, easy, effective.

This is not my own idea, nor is it original, but it is so good and effective. We are more than half way through the summer and my daughter still gets excited about doing her favourite subjects with this extra motivation. The subjects that she loves less, such as writing, I sometimes give her 2 stickers for the effort and trying. Note, this NOT our main motivator for learning new things, but it’s a tool that spices things up and keeps it exciting.

I don’t know why I haven’t thought about it earlier but it works so well. What about you? What tools do you use for that extra boost, that extra motivation?
